COD dominating on the Battlefield
COD still is top 1st person Shooter
Owners of the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 logged 40% more hours of play on launch day than rival shooter Battlefield 3, finds a data analysis from gaming social network Raptr.
According to playtime tracking data from its 10 million members, Modern Warfare 3 racked up more total hours in one week than Battlefield 3 has in three weeks.
Among other key findings from Raptr:
– “During each game’s first week of launch, Xbox 360 players logged 17% more per-user playtime in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, averaging 20.45 hours compared to 17.37 hours of Battlefield 3.”
– “53% of Battlefield 3 players on Xbox 360 are also playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, compared to just 31% of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players who also played Battlefield 3.”
The data only focuses on the Xbox 360 version of both games, so it would be interesting to see how these numbers change when factoring in PC and PlayStation 3 data.
Both games have sold very well since their debuts. Battlefield 3, which launched Oct. 25, sold 5 million copies in its first week. Meanwhile, Modern Warfare 3 sold 6.5 million copies in the U.S. and U.K. on launch day.
